This one is for all the mothers out there! The mothers who have lost a child, the mothers who can’t have children, the mothers who have adopted, and the mothers who have their own. You are all so very special and loved!
I remember watching a video on YouTube once about a new job interview. People were being asked if the job was 24/7 and didn’t pay, if they didn’t get any breaks or time to themselves, if they would take it. Most said no and were shocked to find out that the job was that of a mother! It really moved me because I had never realized how much mothers actually do for their children and their families until I had my own.
As a first time mom myself, I now understand what a big role it is to be a mother and what a big blessing it is as well. All of the sleepless nights, all of the cries and tantrums, all of the laughs and kisses, ALL of it.
I found a poem on Instagram from the viewpoint of a new baby, and it perfectly describes how mothers are with their babies. It goes:
“Dear Mama,
I’m sorry I woke you up so much last night. I know you’re tired. I just felt so alone and scared and I wanted to be close to you.
I’m sorry for all of the scratches and bruises that I gave you. I didn’t mean to hurt you. I was just so hungry and my hands are still learning what to do.
Mama, I’m sorry that I cry so much. The world is still so new to me and sometimes I feel frightened. I feel better when your arms are around me.
I know you’re tired and you don’t know if you can make it through another day, but mama I need you. You make me feel safe.
I love the sound of your voice and the soft touch of your kisses. I love the scent of your skin mama, it smells like milk and home.
I know you worry that you’ll mess up, but you’re exactly what I need. Mama, I’m sorry that I can’t sleep on my own, I just want to breathe you in and feel you close. I miss being curled up in your tummy and hearing your heart beating.
So can I lay on your chest just a little longer mama? It’s so warm here. I promise I won’t always be this way, but mama, right now I need you. Can I be little for just a little while longer?” -Words by @her.heart.and.soul
As mothers, we really will do anything and everything for our children. They are our whole world and we only want what is best for them. Even if that means we don’t get as much sleep, or we eat last, or we don’t shower because our babies need us. We will always need our mothers.
I am so thankful for my wonderful mother who raised me and sacrificed so much for me. When I grow up I want to be just like my mom! I only hope I can be half as good as a mother to my little boy as she is to me and my siblings!
Here’s to the mothers of the world. We love you, and wouldn’t be here without you! Happy Mother’s Day ❤️
